Easter Show

Yesterday MJ and I headed out to the Easter Show. I love the Easter Show, I've been going every year since it moved to Homebush in 1998. I'm not sure why I love it so much but every time I go I have a ball.

This year was no exception, I had so much fun with MJ. The crowds did start to wear on me by the end of the day but it didn't ruin our time there but it was becoming hard work to get through.

Good Friday

Yesterday was Good Friday and I found this saying below to really sum up how I feel spiritually about Easter.

I am your leader - follow me

Mischa thinks she's the leader in this household but we have news for you kitty cat.

Food - I don't want to think about it

Food - I don't want to think about it anymore - ah!!!!!

I've been thinking so much about food lately I'm sick of it. I've been seeing a Natropath to try and feel more 100% and help me with my sleeping too. She's really good and she's also a fertility specialist as well, and since this year is the year for children. So due to all that she is revolutionising my food habits - what I can and cannot eat. Oh wow talk about information overload. Anyway long story short I need to start eating by my blood type (mine is A) and one of the biggest changes is less meat and more vegetarian meals.

We have a local organic shop just up the road from us so I headed up there yesterday to see what I could find. Well I found a few nice things and I think I'll be heading up there most weeks. I was mainly excited about the Rye Bread (wheat free) and Soy Yoghurt (they also sold sheeps and goats yoghurt too). Exciting!!!!

Habits - the good, the bad and the ugly

We all have habits - eating breakfast, brushing our teeth, checking Facebook. Some of are good like: having a banana with breakfast in the morning, feeding the cat. Some are bad like: checking Facebook all the time, being late. Then there is the ugly: like chewing your toe nails (yuck!!!)

I have a few strange habits like:
  • When I eat a milky way I like to pull all the chocolate off the outside and eat it first and then roll up the centre into a ball and eat it.
  • I like my cds sorted into alphabetical order by artist and then into years released.
  • Talking to myself in long car trips so I don't get lonely.
  • Taking photos of food when I'm out.
  • No matter where I am if I see a power-board with a switch on and nothing plugged in it I have to turn it off.
  • When I'm not feeling well always asking myself several times aloud "Are you ok?" when I know I am not.
What are you strange habits? Do share please.

I've been blogging now for 6 months, and I've really enjoyed the new experience. But I'll have to admit I lose motivation and inspiration sometimes.

As you can see I've decided to change up my site a bit to help shake things up with a new background design. Hopefully this will help kick start some inspiration.

I do find blogs very inspirational, it's amazing to see what people are up to, what their views are on things, how they handle life and everything it throws at them. I love the fact the internet can be used in such a wonderful way to share ideas and thoughts. Find out how a recipe worked out, how to sew a zipper on right, how people handle their kids and so many more.

Most of the blogs I read are very encouraging and supportive of people and refuse to stand for negativity - way to go!!!! I wish I knew these people in real life as I don't know many encouraging and supportive people out there. But it's good to see they do exist and I can connect with them via an internet signal.

Keep writing blogs, keep reading blogs, keep encouraging, keep supporting and the world will be a better place.

Cake Pops

Over the weekend I decided to have a go at making some cake pops. They were so messy to make (but I love messy things) and they didn't quite turn out the way I expected them too but they tasted awesome.

These cake pops were made out of cake crumbs, next time I'm going to try making them out of cake batter with my cake pop kit. I used cake crumbs this time as Woolworth Mud Cake was on special for only $3 (half price) and that is one of the best mud cakes you can ever eat.

I've got an idea!!!

picture from here
Ideas - they are like mini explosions going off in your brain, some of them will hurt and then comes the ones that exploded and make so many things better. I'm hoping my idea is one of the latter.

I was at work on Wednesday, bored out of my mind from way too much data entry and I was thinking, I don't want to be here, what can I do else? I've had the conversation with myself many a time at work, my job gives me way too much time to think. Anyway I've always wanted to run a business of some sort from home but never been sure what kind of business and I don't really want to use my hobbies as a source of income, I'll lose passion for them I feel. It's been a thought occurring more and more lately as I'm really getting tired of my job and also planning a family I'm thinking ahead.

Well I was sitting there typing away when the thought hit - bookkeeping. I could complete a bookkeeping course and hopefully run a bookkeeping business from home or contract out from other companies. I spoke to MJ about it and he thought it was a great idea (that doesn't happen often) and the fact that he is an accountant would help me out too.

It's still only in idea stage at the moment and we haven't delved too much into details but I'm a little excited about the prospect and seeing what may come of it.

Wish me luck.

I've been really enjoying the Just B March challenge - A Month of Inspiration. Well I got excited by this one - Mother.

I adore my mother, she's an amazing person, very loving and caring and would move heaven and earth to help you.

She had a challenging upbringing, born in country New South Wales to loving parents. She almost died of malnutrition as a small child due to lack of money, her family was very poor. She moved to Sydney when she was about 2 or 3 and struggled most of her childhood. When she was grown up, she got her heart broken many times until she found my father. She suffers from many illness but despite all this she has taught us how care for others, how important family is, how to give, to respect, manners, how to laugh, to to treat people well (even if we don't really like them), that cuddles are the best thing ever and no day is complete without one and most importantly how to love.

I love you Mum!

Beauty and Style - Go together???

My Grandmother - a lady who had true beauty and style
Beauty and Style - do they go together?

I looked up the definitions online and came up with the following results:

  1. the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).
  2. a beautiful person, especially a woman.
  3. a beautiful thing, as a work of art or a building.
  4. Often, beauties. something that is beautiful in nature or in some natural or artificial environment.
  5. an individually pleasing or beautiful quality; grace; charm: a vivid blue area that is the one real beauty of the painting.
  1. a particular kind, sort, or type, as with reference to form, appearance, or character: the baroque style; The style of the house was too austere for their liking.
  2. a particular, distinctive, or characteristic mode of action or manner of acting: They do these things in a grand style.
  3. a mode of living, as with respect to expense or display.
  4. an elegant, fashionable, or luxurious mode of living: to live in style.
  5. a mode of fashion, as in dress, especially good or approved fashion; elegance; smartness.
In a way beauty and style do go together as most people who are deemed beautiful usually do have a great sense of style. But then there is question of who decides what is beautiful and in style.

I think beauty and style are a personal thing, very intimate in fact cause what one deems beautiful and in style someone else may not. I know when I first started dating MJ, I was told by a one girl that MJ wasn't a very good looking man which I replied to saying "Love is blind" which she in turn replied "Differently in your case". I was shocked, who says that. To me, MJ is the most handsome man on this earth, of course I'm bias as he is my husband but he is a gorgeous person inside and out. Same with my mum, so many kids growing up would tease me how ugly she was, yeah right she is, she's a stunning lady - to me anyway.

I believe beauty really is in the eye of the behold and just cause someone has good style doesn't mean they are beautiful person, I know many people who dress lovely are nasty pieces of work.

Beauty comes from within - what's in your heart always shines to the outside world.

Happy St Patrick's Day

Yesterday was St Patrick's Day, so I decided to have my own little celebration and cook some Irish food.

We ended up eating it as a late lunch early dinner at 3pm, so it gave us enough time to cook, eat and clean up before church at 6:30pm.

I had so much fun cooking, it was lovely sunny day with a cold wind and it was just perfect being in the kitchen with the cool wind blowing through and the sun shining in too.

Main course was a home cooked Beef and Guinness Stew. It turned out divine, so yummy and so filling and the beef just fell apart - oh yum!!!

Dessert was called Ultimate Irish Apple Cake and it was the ultimate apple cake, just the best apple cake I've ever eaten and oh so easy to make. Thanks again Google for making recipes easy to find.

I'm really enjoying these cooking challenges I'm setting myself, in a few weeks there will be a big challenge coming up - Meatless Dinner Week. Six nights of meatless dinners, not sure how MJ is going to go - poor thing. I'm excited for a whole week every night a new and different dinner to cook. Yeah!!!!

Card making

I had a card making class the other day and we created a couple of cards.

Let me know what you think.

Thai Cocunut Tofu & Vegan Chocolate pudding

Friday night I set myself a cooking challenge: Cook vegan, yes vegan not just vegetarian but vegan. It wasn't as hard to find something as I thought thank you to trusty Google I was able to find something pretty quick.

For the main course we had Thai Coconut Tofu. It wasn't too bad actually, the flavour of the peanut butter was awesome but I didn't really like the feel of the tofu between my teeth it was too squeeshy for my liking. I did have to laugh cause MJ turned to me and goes "You know what would taste great in this dish - chicken", I was thinking the same thing - sorry vegans out there. But I'm glad I gave it ago and attempted something completely different. I wish I could like tofu but still haven't found the right dish yet.

For the dessert which was the hero of the night a Vegan Chocolate Pudding. It was really just a dairy-free pudding but oh so yummy. I changed it up a bit and added crushed nuts to the top and that just set it right off. So thick and creamy, our serves were a little too big but that was ok as we had leftovers to eat on Saturday. Yum yum. I know I'll make that one again any time.

Today's quote found on Made with Love Facebook page

It's what's inside that counts?

They always say it's what's inside that counts, but packages do look oh so pretty with colourful wrapping.

There are so many fun ways you can wrap up a package, check out some of the ones I found today (links to sources are included).

If I could describe my design tastes it would be- very bitsy. I like beachy style, I like shabby chic, I like old fashioned and country style. I love handmade style. There are just too many for me to choose from so I have them all.

Above images from here

I thought I'd share with you a poem I wrote many years ago for MJ and I had my mum read it out at our wedding.

Hold my hand

Will you hold my hand when the sun goes down?
Will you hold my hand when tears make me frown?
Will you hold my hand when the sun starts to rise?
Will you hold my hand when I smile with surprise?
Will you hold my hand when I jump about?
Will you hold my hand when I laugh and shout?
Will you hold my hand when I say goodnight?
Will you hold my hand when I shiver in fright?
Will you hold my hand with a smile on your face?
Will you hold my hand and know that it is in it's place?
Will you hold my hand when you put on the ring and
say you love me with your everything?
Will you? I will.

Sydney Aquarium with my favourite person

Today I spend the day at the Sydney Aquarium with my favourite person - my nephew and of course MJ.

I've wanted to take Nephew 3 out for the day for ages and thought I'd do it now before he hits 4 years old next month and the price for the aquarium become $28 dollars and not free any more, plus it's also item 21 on my 101 list.

He only cost me 30 cents today, free train ticket, free entry and a Maccas Ice-cream (30 cents).

It was an awesome day. We headed in by train to the city, we got asked millions of questions about everything. We saw so many fish and sharks (yes we did find Nemo - he was very excited by that).

We ate some lunch and headed over the playground. Wow I think he had more fun there then in the aquarium. Then he discovered the water park - oh my gosh was he excited. He got soaked (thank goodness his mum packed extra clothes).

His legs started to grow weary after awhile and Uncle MJ's arms got a nice work out.

He had a ball, I got a message from my sister-in-law saying after telling them all about his day he fell straight asleep.

I love spending time with my nephew as we always have so much fun together. Can't wait to take him out again.
