Yesterday I went to my monthly card making class. I love going each month as we make some beautiful cards.

Here are this months cards, please tell me which one is your favourite. I love the white one, well really I love them all.

Thai Chicken Noodle Soup

Tuesday last week I tried another Nigella Lawson recipe that I haven't tried before (this takes it up to 7 out of 150 now - see here).

I tried Thai Chicken Noodle Soup. I was quite impressed with it, something different and quite a good taste to it. I've found you the recipe online if you'd like to have a go (see here). If you try it let me know how it went.

Doesn't look the greatest but it sure tasted fine
Here is my review:

Story Time

It's story time - well sort of. Last Saturday my mum and I went to a wonderful morning tea for women that a friend of mine runs through her church. This is the second one she's put on now, a guest speaker comes along and we all share morning tea together while listening to a wonderful message.

This time the guest speaker was Cecily Paterson who is a writer and editor. She was talking to us about "Your life in a story". I found her very interesting to listen to and I want to share a few things I learnt.

Every story has four Cs:
- Character "What does the character want?"
- Conflict "What gets in the character's way?"
- Congratulations "Conflict resolved"
- Change "How does the character change?"

Our life is like any other story and has these four Cs in them. We are the character, we face conflict, we can over come conflict, how do we change. So our life is a story and the way we face and resolve conflict reflects on how we change and helps makes for a more meaningful life

The other point I really liked was: Your dreams are proportionate to who you are. Your dreams are big to you.

One last point: We are supporting actors (sub-plots) in the bigger picture of the world, we are not the main character. We are part of a broken world, God is the main character waiting for us to reach out to Him.

I really felt like I got a lot out of the day, we also got a little gift each to take home (see picture below).

Good things come in threes.....

Good things come in threes right? Well I'm going so say yes. I've got three days worth of good things to share.

1. Shoes

Shoes are always a good thing. I love sneakers, they are the best, so comfy and come in so many different styles and colours and patterns.

Here is a picture of some of my fun coloured sneakers.

2. Seat

Well I got to experience the best seat in the house the other night. MJ and I went to his boss' 40th at the O Bar in Sydney, which is a revolving restaurant with 360 degree views of the city. The views were amazing, the food was good (but not enough). Plus the birthday girl had a wonderful time.

3. Word

A kind word is always a good thing. I'm loving all the inspirational pictures on Facebook right now, they are so encouraging and helpful.

I found one that I want to share with you.

Many a good thing......

Well it's that time again, a celebration of the good things. Are there good things in your life? Please share what are they?

It's always good to give yourself a little treat every now and again. If I could treat myself to something it would be this:

I love this outfit, it's so pretty and girly. I found this on ModCloth Facebook page.

Everyone needs a companion of some kind, they can be either of the 2 legged kind or even the 4 legged kind. I know my grandmother loved having her little dog as a companion. I'm lucky I've got a few companions, my husband, my mother, my good friend. All who I get to see face to face but I do have companions I don't get to see face to face, the many blogs I read and sharing with them through their life and my brother overseas through Facebook messages. Where would we be without companionship?

I love china - the crockery that is (I might like China the country I've just never been there). China is so pretty and delicate.

Here is a photo of one of my grandmother pieces of china. It had been broken and pieced back together - Granny always did that as nothing ever got thrown out with her.

I've got a plan man!!!!

A few weeks ago I had an idea (see post here), I was excited by it for about a day or two then I just lost complete interest in it. You see bookkeeping just doesn't excite me, I'm not passionate about it, I'm just.... just not that into it.

I was reading Nature and Health magazine the other day during my lunch break at work and there was this article "Life Coach - Reinvent your work - How can I find a job that is truly rewarding?". That is exactly where I'm at - I need a job I find rewarding, something that satisfies me, satisfies my passions. In the article it asked some questions "What do I love to do?" "What do I do, say, eat or wear that excites me?". Those questions really made me think, what does excite me, what do I love to do. Then it hit me - Nature and Health. Nature and Health excites me, I'm so passionate about natural products, natural food, the environment, making people feel better about themselves, eco products. I love all that and I want to be involved in some way.

I hit a snag in my thinking, how do I want to be involved, what kind of job etc. I don't know the answers to these questions, I know I don't want to be a professional (nutritionist or the like) but I want to be involved somehow, just not quite sure how yet.

But I do need to start getting some kind of knowledge in the field so I thought a great place to start (after much thought and pray) was a Human Nutrition course - so I signed up last night through ACS (see course details here). I thought nutrition is at the centre of both nature and health and what better place to start. I'm so excited and this time the excitement has lasted for a few days not just a few hours. Can't wait to get my course in the post soon and get stuck into it. I'll keep you all posted on my progress and what I learn. I'm so happy at the idea of doing something great and different for my future instead of just sitting and watching life go by. Wish me luck - Yeah!!!!

P.S - In a way I could use this to help out my Month of Good things - project, gift and plan - all fit quite well with this.

Happy Birthday Mum!!!!!!

Yesterday was my mum's 67th birthday. I asked her how would she like to spend it - the answer: High Tea at the QVB Building.

So that's exactly what she got. Yesterday mum, dad, my niece, my nephew and myself all caught the train into town and had a lovely high tea.

It was so pretty in the QVB building Tea Room, we were served a traditional afternoon tea with scrumptious little treats. I had chai tea for my tea of choice. The scones with jam and clotted cream were divine. Oh so yummy and filling too. My little nephew had all these treats in front of him and all he wanted was his potato sticks his mum packed for him, ha ha, he did get spoilt with a babychino which he thought was fantastic. My mum had a great time, she was so happy, even though she did have to celebrate her birthday with her arm in a sling (silly thing had a bad fall the other day and fractured her elbow).

Night time was spent with the rest of the family for a simple dinner of meat, salad and chips. It was great to just have fun with everyone and enjoy watching each other have a go at Wii boxing.

I love my family and I'm very lucky to call them friends and know they are always up for fun and a joke.

Happy Birthday Mum!!!!

A Week of Good Things

It’s that time again to catch up with the Creative Month of Good Things.
On Friday I got to have a nice rest day at home. I spent it in my craft room working on my sugar paste flowers for mum’s Mother’s Day cake. It was such a good thing to have the day at home to rest and feel the peace and quiet around me. I really do need to do more of those days for my health and sanity.
Walking is such a good thing to do, it helps gets you outside and away from computers, artificial light and just plain house and work distractions. We have walk breaks here at my job, we all look forward to them. It’s wonderful to stop typing and walk outside (even in the cold) and chat away to each other.
Sometimes I wonder if these are good things, especially when you come home and find they have thrown up all over the good dining room chairs or they constantly scratch the carpet even though you have repeatedly told them off and sprayed them with water. Or they trip you over so they can get you to feed them or they cry and cry once again so you will feed them. But when you are in bed and certain little kitty cat comes up and snuggles under the blanket with you and starts purring away it seems all is forgiven and they remind you that yes they are a good thing after all.
I’ve always got ideas running around in my head, I only had a big one the other week (see post here) well another big one has struck me and this time I think it’s gold and the right one. I’m not quite going to share it yet as I just want to run it around and dream in my head for a few more days and pray about it and see it is the right idea for me. Once I’ve decided you’ll be the first to know as I’m getting quite excited over it.
It’s always good to have a drink or otherwise you would get dehydrated. My favourite drink of choice is just plain old water. During summer I love to drink it cold out of the fridge but in winter I can’t stand it from the fridge and mainly just straight from the tap. I do love to make myself smoothies when I get the chance and love having strawberry ones with almond milk (I tried it the other month since the milk was on special and it tasted awesome) and it really makes me feel good to be drinking something so yummy that’s is actually good for you too. What do you like to drink that makes you feel good?
Have good things been happening to you? If so please share.

Happy Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother's Day and it was a long and hectic day. It was still nice to get to spend some time with both MJ's mum and family and my mum and family. What made it so hectic was trying to fit that all in one day.

MJ's family went to the club for lunch - oh my gosh - everyone had the same idea. We joined the line for the all you can buffet at 12:40pm and we got to sit and eat at 2:20pm. It was madness, plus it didn't help that once we got in there the food was disgusting. None of it even looked like food. I ended up eating mostly desserts as it was the only thing that looked and tasted edible, which in turn sent me over the edge with my sugar levels, I'm still battling with it today. But besides all that, MJ's mum was happy and that's all that counts and she loved having everyone there.

Night time was my mum's turn and it was a beautiful baked dinner, not that I really felt up to eating. I decorated mum's cake and she loved it. It's my first time making flowers out of sugar paste and to me they didn't really turn out like roses but they did look like flowers so I was proud that I managed to pull something off.

I am thinking that maybe next year we might need to have Mother's Day over two days as I'm still recovering today - oh feel so sick. But it was a nice day and it was wonderful to spend it with family.

Is there such thing as a lady any more?

Is there such thing as a lady any more?

That's a question that has been coming up a lot lately in my head, are there still ladies around? and if so where? and are they teaching the next generation lady like manners?

So do you thing there are ladies still out there?

The reason I ask this question is I don't meet very many of them nowadays and a lot of young girls are no where near. A woman at work has been having troubles with her 12 years old in year 7, the bullying, teasing, fitting in issues are very prominent now and this poor girl is having a really rough time. Thanks to the joys of Facebook, Instagram, AskFm etc today's bullying doesn't just stop at the school gate, it comes home now too. This young girl is being witness to horrible sayings and things I would never expect to hear from teenage girls, comments like: go hang yourself, you're nothing, you're worthless , you're grandmother deserved to die and worse. Where are the next generation of ladies going to come from if this is coming out of the girl's mouths?

I personally don't know the solution or answer or where it all went wrong, but one thing is certain if I have daughters (and sons too) I'm going to teach them respect and kindness. I hope I can instil that into my future kids and I'll just pray and hope there will be some ladies in the future. I'll even make sure my niece and nephew (who's parents are already lovely) will also know love and kindness.

Let band together and help out each other and show the world there are ladies left and pass that onto the next generation. Who's with me?

Good things - Shop

Do you like to shop? I do - when I can afford it, even when I can't I like to window shop and dream pretending all the pretty things I could own and play with.

Wouldn't it be fun just for a day to not have to look a price tags and pick whatever you like? And best of all someone else picks up the tab? Oh we can dream but it will never happen (unless you find a very rich other half).

So I thought I'd let my mind wander a little and dream of some things I'd like to shop for, it's always a good thing to make believe.

First up I'd hit my local Salvation Army store, as they always get the best stuff there. Then:

  1. Sportsgirl, Portmans and Forever New I'd hit up for some clothes.
  2. Kikki K and Typo for stationery - always have the cutest things, even though I'll hardly ever use it.
  3. My local Organic shop for some great organic and whole foods.
  4. I'd differently buy my dream camera - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
  5. Tree of Life store for some funky jewellery and flowing clothes.
  6. Toy stores for some fun toys: Lego, Barbies, Bikes, Remote Control Cars, Playdoh.
  7. I'd take my mother out and buy her whatever her heart desired.
  8. And lastly I'd take my family out for dinner at Hog's Breath Cafe.
What would you buy if someone else picked up the tab?

Please be honest with me

Today is the 1st of May which means it's now been 8 months since I first started this blog (you can read my first post here). I’ve really enjoyed writing on here for the past 8 months and completing different challenges (e.g Month of, Photo a day, 101 list, craft etc).

I want to keep this blog going with my thoughts and random life moments but I want to do more and I’m a little stuck with what exactly. So I thought I’d put the question out there and please be honest (but respectful) and let me know what you like or don’t like about this blog, what you want to see more of, what would you like to get from reading this blog.

So please let me know as I would love to have some feedback from you all.
