Thrive by Arianna Huffington - Book Review
Arianna Huffington is the mastermind behind Huffington Post and her most recent book "Thrive - The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Happier Life" hit bookshelves last year.
I found it an interesting read actually, it reminded me a little of The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin but was more to do with business success than personal success which The Happiness Project was more focused on.
Arianna is trying to challenge our concept of what is success? what determines success? At the moment we mainly measure success on power and money but what if we are missing the point?
We are living in such a hyper-connected world where we are plugged in 24/7 and while yes there is some good coming from all this technology there is also some major downsides as well, we are so connected that we are not connecting.
Mindfulness is a big key which Arianna points out consistently throughout the book and how to implement it not only in your personal life but in your business and working life. Arianna mentions if we give more focus on well being, wisdom, wonder and giving in the business/working world there would be so much good change, not only for the employer but for the employees too.
Thrive is littered with wonderful little quotes, which I loved, there were so many little lessons throughout the book, and coming from someone who isn't a career driven person I really got a lot out of the book.
I'd give the book 4 out of 5.
Have you read Thrive? What did you think of it?
This is not a sponsored review I just really liked the book and wanted to share my thoughts with you.
